OUR MOTIVATION
It is so easy to fall into a pattern of apathy as we go through our lives. Our organization was born out of a commitment to urgently address the risk of climate change.
In 2013, the Philippines was identified as the country most vulnerable to climate change, with Albay ranking first in Combined Risk to Climate Disasters, and Guinobatan pinpointed as the most vulnerable to flooding in all of Albay. Guinobatan sits right smack the Pacific Jinx—the intersection of the Pacific Ring of Fire and the Typhoon Belt of the Pacific Basin—making it the most vulnerable to severe weather conditions.
Our purpose is to empower these vulnerable communities to adapt to their harsh situation by providing them with the proper tools, skills and livelihood to help themselves adapt to the changing climate conditions. We strive to do it all here at USWAG-Bicol, Inc. Our Organization is made of highly competent individuals who are committed to achieving our project goals. We work on many exciting initiatives to improve the lives of others, and are very proud of the work we do. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE SEMINARS
With our mission always in mind, we work tirelessly to improve the lives of individuals from disaster-vulnerable places. Climate Change is something that we take very seriously and work hard to prepare for. Our whole team of volunteers from all walks of life are committed to this cause.
PROMOTING ECOTOURISM
With this initiative, our goal is to promote Guinobatan as the Biking Capital of the Philippines. Lasy August 2016, USWAG organized a successful Mountain Bike Race and Enduro Challenge. Over 90 Mountain bikers joined – considered by the bikers as a record in attendance locally. The track used for the race will now be an eco-tourism track, making it more accessible to tourists, travelers and biking enthusiasts. Help us achieve this goal.
